You often see your teen child taking energy drinks in huge amounts. Teen children are tied up to a very hectic schedule as they get up early in the morning; go to school, then sports, homework, and other social activities. Finally, they end up late in bed, even after midnight due to a busy work regime. They require a lot of energy to keep up with the work for the whole day so they go for quick energy supplements. These promise you to provide instant energy and bring back the required concentration levels.

This is made possible by the addition of excessive amount of caffeine in them. Caffeine can affect the lives of the teens as they become edgy, have problems in sleeping, and face headaches very often. It is considered as a drug which can be addictive, if ingested frequently. Large amounts can even cause dehydration and heart palpitations. Thus, caffeine is one of the reasons why energy drinks can be injurious to teen health.

Moreover, these drinks contain sugar along with enormous amount of calories. This makes the teens gain weight and even aids in tooth decay. Energy drinks are so filling that after having them, children tend to skip meals. Thus, these children are not taking proper balanced diet and compromising on their health. If taken regularly, they may cause illness among the teen children. This does not mean that teen health is not possible with energy drinks. It is simply that moderation is crucial as excess of anything could be harmful. These drinks can be consumed when you require extra energy to wake up the whole night to study for the exams. The only thing is that you need to be aware of the side effects of these health drinks on your body.

    Very good information and all parents should be aware just how much caffeine their child might be drinking. Some of these drinks have incredibly caffeine levels. I have wondered if all these high caffeine energy drinks are one reason for the increase in road rage.

    It can certainly ruin the adrenal gland. You are right there are numurous other health problems as well, and todays kids are getting an early start to big jolts. Not like years ago when coffee was coffee.
