Skin cancer is now being linked with the unhealthy diet. Carcinogens that are consumed due to unhealthy lifestyle can form cancer by mutating the DNA. This is followed by the conversion of the normal cells to the cancerous or malignant one. One of the ways to fight this is to strong our immune system. This can be done by having nutritional and healthy diet. So this is good news that people can fight the disease by having the good healthy food which will eventually also makes a person healthy in all terms not just in case of the cancer. To avoid skin cancer risk one must need antioxidants in addition to the healthy diet. Actually the carcinogens enter the cells through the process of oxidation. There are free radicals in the body due to which this oxidation occurs and the anti-oxidants deactivate these radicals so that oxidation is not carried out. If you want a healthy life without going for the treatment for skin cancer, just have a healthy diet in addition to the anti-oxidants.

Now just have a look at the various nutrients that are really helpful to prevent skin cancer.

Vitamin D: It is generally said that sunlight is one of the cause of sunlight but the truth is that a person needs a 20 minute of daily unprotected sunlight to get the daily dose of the required vitamin D. It helps in processing of calcium by the body. It is also found in the milk and the egg yolks

Vitamin E: It is basically an anti-oxidant. It is clinically proven that this vitamin has the power to change the cancerous cell back to the normal cell. Sources of this vitamin are raw vegetables, corn oil, beans. Basically it is the constituent of almost all the vegetables.

There is usually a direct link between sun exposure and the skin cancer. It is frequently found on the areas which remains exposed to direst sun light for long hours. However it may creep on the body pert which is not exposed to sun also. For this frequent check of the body skin should be done in order to know the status. The skin cancer is usually of three types’ melanoma, squamous cell carcinoma and basal cell carcinoma. Skin cancer can develop on neck, face, hands, legs, lips, nose, between toes and anywhere in the body because the skin is the outermost part of the body which covers it completely. People of all skin tones can be affected by this and it develops slowly and appears suddenly.

The most common skin cancer is the basal cell carcinoma. This is also the most easy to treat. This is named so because it appears in the basal cells in the skin epidermis. It typically appears as the waxy bump or a flat lesion.

Squamous cell carcinoma is the second type and have a ten dandy to spread but can be controlled in the early stage. It is named so because it appears in the squamous cell of the skin epidermis. It appears as red bump on the skin or as flat lesion along with scaly surface.

Melanoma is the type of cancer that accounts the most number of deaths due to skin cancer. It may develop on the skin or make the existing mole cancerous called as the mole skin cancer. It is named so because it appears in the melanocyte cells in the skin epidermis. It appears as the spot on the skin with irregular color. It may also cause mole to change color or mole to bleed as well. It may also be there in the inner side of the mouth or nose especially in the mucous membrane. People with fair skin tone have higher risk of getting this type of skin cancer because the cell melanocyte provides the color to skin. If you have sunburns in the childhood, there are greater chances of getting this type of skin cancer as an adult. Also the person who works in the sun light for long time or skin tanning increases the skin cancer risk of this type.

Treatment for skin cancer is effective and easy if done in early stage of the cancer. In this case it may be removed under local anesthesia at doctor’s clinic.

One of the most common types of cancer that prevails in today’s scenario is the skin cancer. It is estimated that in US alone 1 million people are under the affect of this disease. So it is important that we are aware of the skin cancer risks and how to prevent skin cancer. For this first one has to understand how skin cancer develops. But before this one should have knowledge about the skin.

Our skin is composed of two layers. The outermost is called as the epidermis and the inner most as the dermis. The epidermis is composed of the three layers of cells. The uppermost are the flat squamos cells, the middle one are the round basal cells and the lower layers with the melanocytes cells which gives the color to the skin. Under the epidermis is the dermis which consists of the blood vessels, lymph and the glands. These glands produce sweat (to keep body cool) and the sebum (oily material to keep skin moisturized). Both these reach the upper layer of skin through pores. As everyone know that the cells are the building block of skin from the above part of the article. Skin cells will die and the new one will form.

Also the cells will expand and multiply. This is the normal process, but it will get hampered when the old cells refused to die, or the new cells keep on developing even when the skin not requires them. These will be surplus cells and will form a mass called tumor. Tumor may be cancerous or non cancerous. The name of the skin cancer depends on the three types of cells in which this tumor grows.

Different type of skin cancers are

Melanoma

Squamous cell cancer

Basal cell carcinoma

Melanoma skin cancer is due to the increase in the melanocytes cells. This is usually found in the males especially those works or lives in the sunny climate for ling hours of the days.

Squamous cell skin cancer results from too much exposure to the chemicals, x-rays, UV radiations and it is generally found in the people aged over 50 years.

Basal cell carcinoma is the most common skin cancer and it is usually found on the neck and the head. It is not very fatal but can disfigure the appearance of a person. It is estimated that 30% people are affected by this cancer.
