Do we work to live or we live to work?
Who in the world would like to die early? People always try to find ways to live longer. Studies and researches are also carried out for the same. It has been seen that
people with a purpose to live tend to live longer. Goal-oriented people, who have something to achieve have an urge to live and to realize their goals. Let us take a simple example to understand this. Suppose you are at your place and you do not have anything to do. Then, it would be really difficult to spend the entire day and you would wish it to end soon. On the other hand, if you are loaded with loads of work, you might not even notice for how many hours you have been working. Thus, if you are having a purpose in life, you’ll never wish your life to end and this urge for living will help you live longer and healthier.
In the same way, when you do things of our interest, you’ll never get bored and would like to do it throughout your life without a stop.
Like, if you are attending a lecture in college, you will be keeping a note of every minute but if you are hanging out with friends, you won’t even think about the time. The reason for this close relation between longevity and the purpose in life is very simple and straight. When you have something to do, you will work for it. Thus, you will remain active and going. For this, you need to be healthy. Since, you know that you have to do so many things you will take care of your health and your body and will consequently, live longer.
When you are a child or an adult, you have your work and family to live for. But during old age, the purpose to live usually fades off. To be lively even at this point of life, you can work as a volunteer. This will make you feel needed and valued. You will meet new people and will contribute to a noble cause.
