Healthy kids are a sign of healthy family. Though undisputable, this little statement is very difficult to keep up if we do not take care of few important things. Kids dental health and physical health both are related and are equally important, but usually parents miss out on the first one.  They rush to the doctor immediately when the child catches cold or flu. However, not much attention is paid when it comes to kids dental health. Here, are few issues which should be taken care of while dealing with kids dental health.

Brushing the teeth properly:

Dental hygiene is very important for kids dental health. Make your child brush his teeth twice a day. This will keep germs away from the mouth and prevent tooth decay due to bacterial attack. Also, brushing should be done very carefully and properly, going upside down for every tooth.

Regulating sugar intake for good and healthy teeth:

The biggest culprit for tooth decay is sugar so the amount of sugar consumed by the child should be controlled. Candies like lollipops, toffees are too dangerous for kids dental health because they have high sugar content and stay longer in the mouth. A better alternative to this would be sugarless chewing gum. It fancies kids and at the same time cleans up teeth. Carbonated beverages are also harmful as they have increased amount of sugar in them and being in liquid form, the effects are more profound.

Foods items to ensure kids’ dental health:

Celery is one among many foods that helps in keeping the teeth healthy and can be consumed for both dental and general health. It is a crisp & tough material with fiber which is of great help in cleaning the teeth, especially for those food particles which are in between the teeth and difficult to reach. Low in sugar, apples are also good for kids dental health. Calcium provides strength to teeth and gums. Thus, calcium- rich food should be given to the child.  Drinking milk not only ensures healthy teeth but also overall growth and development of the children. It has large amount of calcium which is beneficial for bones and tooth.

Always keep an eye on what your child is eating to avoid kids dental health problems. Little carelessness can make your child pay for the whole life.
