Resveratrol – Supplement or Drug
Resveratrol is a naturally produced anti-microbial derived from plants which have been attacked by pathogens like bacteria and fungi. It was first discovered by Harvard
University scientist David Sinclair and has since then flooded the western market as a supplement for weight loss, cardiovascular diseases and even cancer. It needs to be mentioned at this point that resveratrol supplements have never been tested on humans and may be a potential threat to human health.
Resveratrol, like all other supplements is not immune to side effects. Since it is yet to have been tested extensively on humans, its side effects are also not entirely known. These side effects may vary from person to person depending on the dosage consumed. Most people consuming resveratrol have complained of one or more of the following symptoms:
- Joint pain or arthritis may either increase in patients or may commence in those not suffering from this painful disease prior to the consumption of resveratrol.
