Symptoms of Swine Flu
This is the time when common flu and viral are attacking the people all over the world. This is also the time when Swine Flu is spreading like a deadly disease. But, the
seasonal flu is different from the Swine flu and the treatment for the two is also entirely different because the virus causing the seasonal flu is different from that causing Swine flu. One should know what exactly they are suffering from before going for any kind of treatment.
Symptoms of Swine flu: Swine flu is caused by the swine virus. Earlier, it used to affect pigs but now, the mutated H1N1 virus has the potential to infect the humans also. A person affected by Swine flu virus shows following symptoms:
- Very high fever: High temperature above 100 Fahrenheit or 38 Celsius is common to all flu’s. Swine flu is marked by very high fever.
- Constipation and diarrhea: the digestive system of the body is affected causing constipation. It can also be accompanied by dehydration.
- Extensive coughing and sneezing: This disease is marked by sore throat and acute nausea.
- Chills, fatigue, weakness and severe body pain: This leads to loss of motivation to do even the simple tasks. It also causes muscle cramps, body pain and lethargy.
- Loss of appetite and vomiting.
- Breathlessness: Affected people may experience breathlessness after a few days.
The symptoms of Swine flu are almost similar to any other seasonal flu but they are more severe than the common flu. If any of the above symptoms is noticed, a doctor should be consulted immediately. Even at the first signs, one should go to the doctor and get tested for the disease. This disease is completely curable if diagnosed early. The treatment for the disease involves administration of anti viral drugs- oseltamivir (tamiflu) and zanamirvir (relenza). These can completely fight off the Swine flu virus and the patient becomes fit. The drug is administered to other people in the family also to prevent them in case the disease is contaminated to them from the patient.
